The main purpose of the thesis is to present the consequences of the winter of 1928/1929 as reported in Slovenian newspapers of the time. The primary focus is on the problems in transport and how it was affected by the winter, as this was the main subject of the newspapers' coverage. In addition to the effects on transport, there were also many reports on the general shortage of raw materials and food over the winter, the impact of the winter on agriculture, especially on olive-growing and viticulture, and the effects of flooding and the breaking up of river ice at the end of the winter. Most of the attention is paid to the consequences encountered in Slovenian lands, but to some extent those from abroad are also covered, especially around transport.
