Linguistic stylistics is fundamentally characterized by interdisciplinarity. On the one hand it pervades the study of language in as much as different levels of linguisticc analysis (phonological, morphological, sytactic, semantic and textual) are linked in a vertical and hierarchical way to one another, whereas on the other hand linguistics interacts with various social sciences and humanities (anthropology, sociology, psychology, history, art history, architecture, vusual arts, etc.).
