Working hours are an important factor that affects our daily lives, as our health depends on them. It is therefore fixed by law. In occupations that require more mental and emotional effort, it is particularly important that working hours are well defined to avoid burnout. Employees must therefore be able to achieve their goals in their private or family life.
Reconciling work and family is a topical sociological and socio-political issue that has become relevant with the trends of changing family life, birth changes and in particular, changes in the labor market or the mass employment of women, which began in Western countries in the 1950s and 1960s. We live in a time of rapid changes, adaptation, and a very demanding work pace. All this makes it difficult for employees to balance their professional and private lives.
In my Graduation thesis, I'm researching how well and how often PUM-O employees are able to coordinate two spheres: professional and private.
The thesis includes quantitative research with the help of a survey questionnaire, which was answered by all employees of PUM-O in Slovenia during the survey.
Based on the collected data, I find that the vast majority of employees are very satisfied or satisfied with the current arrangement of working hours. For the most part, employees are able to balance professional and private life always or often. The vast majority of employees define the effectiveness of the employer and management in facilitating the reconciliation of professional and private life as very effective or effective. In the vast majority, the interests, wishes and needs of employees are always or often taken into account in the context of work.
