This master's thesis attempts to examine the eruption of the Samalas volcano, which occurred in 1257 on the island of Lombok. In it, I aim to present the historical and geographical framework for the global impact of this eruption with a focus on specific locations such as Lombok and the surrounding islands, the Japanese archipelago, and Europe. In my master's thesis, I would like to focus specifically on primary sources from the period of the eruption, both from Lombok itself and from other areas that were affected by the impacts of the volcanic eruption. The eruption of the Samalas volcano is one of the largest in the last 10,000 years. The consequences of the Samalas eruption were felt all over the world and left clear traces, which I will try to show and investigate in my master’s thesis.
