The greatest advantage of helicopters over airplanes is their ability to land and take off from unprepared landing sites. Off airfield operations present numerous risks and challenges for pilots. Therefore, we have reviewed typical procedures for planned and unplanned operations in this diploma thesis. We have correlated these procedures with the regulations on the Conduct of off airfield landings and takeoffs for helicopters. Additionaly, we have planned and executed two off airfield operations using Enstrom 280C helicopter type. A comparison between the planned operations and their execution revealed slight variations in the helicopter's performance and improvements in the execution were suggested.
