Theatre is one of the most developed and diverse cultural and artistic practices of the Slovene minority in the Austrian part of Carinthia. The political, social and linguistic details, the double affiliation to the Austrian and Slovene space, as well as the functions that theatrical practices have in the cultural sphere of the Slovene minority all find expression also in the playwriting of Carinthian authors. The article sheds light on some of the types, genres and typological features of this writing in an attempt to stress its continuities and modifications and to show its growing generic hybridity and linguistic openness.
