Art is an important part of a person’s education, upbringing, culture, health, and psychosocial development. In our master's thesis, we have leaned on and proceeded from the findings of the previous theoretical review of various approaches, methods, and techniques of art in psychotherapy in Slovenia. By continuing and upgrading the existing findings, we have aimed to provide an empirical contribution to the field of psychotherapy. The theoretical part consists of the overview of the definition and different modalities of psychotherapy, the therapeutic relationship, and the selected approaches in psychotherapy. The field of art therapy is presented in more detail. Hence, we have done a review of its history, development, and definition, then added an overview of various art methods and techniques with an addition of their practical implementation in Slovenia. In the empirical part, we focused on finding out which methods and techniques of the art process are used in psychotherapy practice, how often and in what way they are used by practitioners, in addition to what their attitudes and needs in this regard are. We have gathered the information by conducting the descriptive quantitative research. We obtained data for processing with the questionnaire, based on the sample of 112 persons who practice psychotherapy in Slovenia. The goal has been to collect data about the use of methods and techniques of art in the field of psychotherapy in Slovenia. We have aimed to provide an overview of practice with the obtained research data, which will serve as a useful contribution to both fields, of art therapy and psychotherapy in Slovenia.
