One of the main tasks of literary criticism is undoubtedly the analysis and evaluation of literature, in the context of which critics express their views on single elements within literary works. In the case of the contemporary Slovene novel in Italy, in keeping with its tradition and
contrary to the prevailing trends in Slovene literary production, national identity remains one the most prominent features. This paper presents the reception of this feature in Slovene literary criticism.
