The contribution looks at the reception of pre-war short prose by Ivan Potrč, a writer, playwright and journalist, who has been classified by literary historians as a Social Realist and as a rural author. The contribution will be limited to certain discussions and independent publications, showing how some Slovene reviewers (Jerovšek, Štih, Šafar and others) have appreciated Potrč as a writer and his early prose.
