The master's thesis presents an example of an individualized approach with an art activity for a person with dementia. In the theoretical part, we described the medical condition of dementia and presented help with art activities. In the empirical work, we used a qualitative approach and a descriptive research method, which included one person with dementia, aged 85, to study the impact of art activities on strengthening the well-being of the beforementioned person. Data were collected through interviews of the researched person, their relative, and nursing staff; by observing with participation and filling in observation forms; by completing scales to measure the quality of life of a person with dementia and by writing a research diary. All this was to answer the research questions posed in advance. Helping with art is a non-pharmacological way of treating unpleasant symptoms in people with dementia, which, although it gives good results, is not yet sufficiently researched.
After reviewing the research results, we can summarize that with the art activity of a person with dementia, we influenced their emotions and behaviour and thus improved their quality of life.
