The paper discusses prosodic content in different Slovene grammars, with an emphasis on Toporišič's. The beginnings of prosody or sentence phonetics are already discernible in Pohlin's grammar (1768), but a reasonably well-rounded discussion of the subject cannot be found until Toporišič, who in a chapter entitled The phonetics of texts describes six prosodic characteristics: pause, sentence stress, intonation, register, tempo and colouring.
