The paper deals with the poetry by pupils of Franc S. Metelko's poetic school which has, with the few exceptions in Alfonz Gspan's anthology of older Slovene literature, not yet been published in printed form. It notes dominant features of the Upper Carniola dialect and classifies them on the three most representative linguistic levels. The paper also stresses some typical hypercorrections found in the poetry of Metelko's alumni due to its as yet unsystematized language.
