The paper deals with Slovene poems and the litany of various saints in the manuscript song-book Cantilenae variae by Franc Mihael Paglovec (1679-1759). It explains why the author chose precisely poems dedicated to Saint Joseph, Anthony the Great, John of Nepomuk, Notburga, and Isidore the Farmer, and the litany of St. Anne. Finally, it reconstructs the purpose of these poems and discusses the possibility of their public performance.
