The stories of Pippi Longstocking are translated into more than a hundred languages. The first Slovene translation of Pippi was done by Kristina Brenk in 1958. This translation has been republished by the publishing house Mladinska knjiga nineteen times, and the publishing house Rotis published it again once in three separate books. Since the text changed slightly with almost every new edition, I wanted to find out what kind of changes were introduced in different periods and who was responsible for them. Since fifty-six years have passed between the first publication of the translation in 1958 and the last reprint in 2014, I expected many changes. In the thesis, I identified the lexical changes in the reprints. The comparison of all editions revealed that the translation of 1958 was changed primarily because it was considered linguistically outdated, and because it contained ideologically changed passages. In reprints, most changes of obsolete words happened in the nineties; however, some outdated words also remained in the last edition in 2014, whereas the ideologically marked words in editions of Mladinska knjiga were replaced in 2001. Pippi Longstocking was very popular and, therefore frequently reprinted. The role of editors was to review and correct the reprints where necessary. This draws us to the conclusion that the ideological changes in the translated text from 1958 were introduced predominantly by editors of the reprints.
