In my thesis entitled Using natural materials in art, according to preschool teachers' opinions and experiences I presented the theoretical part of the children's artistic expression in the pre-school period, which included chapters on art activities, the characteristics of children's thinking, the development and stages of the children's artistic expression, the principles of art, among which the main one is the principle of creativity, the artistic areas of art and the planning of art activities and the role of the kindergarten teacher. I also presented nature, awareness, appreciation and experiencing of nature, its natural materials and their use in art and forest pedagogy.
In the empirical part, I used a questionnaire to investigate the opinions and experiences of kindergarten teachers across Slovenia on the importance and the use of natural materials in all areas, especially in art, and the knowledge and use of natural materials in landscape art.
I have found out that preschool teachers mostly have positive opinions and experiences with natural materials. They find the use of natural materials in kindergarten important and they often use them in all areas of their work, including art.
