In analytical chemistry, we are faced with a large number of measurements which without
mathematical treatment do not mean anything. Statistics can be used to evaluate the
results and give us the information we need to further address the problem. In this thesis,
we have chosen the widely available and easy-to-use Microsoft Excel, which is
commonly used in the natural sciences for various calculations and graphical
presentations, to carry out the statistical analyses. We demonstrate how to perform some
statistical tests and use functions to display the data graphically. In order to perform the
statistical evaluations, we needed different data sets, which we generated in the Analysis
ToolPak add-in and then implemented and assessed whether Excel was an appropriate
choice to perform them.
