In this thesis, we investigated trends in the volume of internet traffic in a large Slovenian sample company employing 344 people. We described the measurement environment, the FortiGate firewall and and the tool used for logging traffic - FortiAnalyzer. The latter allowed us to configure the internet traffic report to include everything we needed for a proper analysis of internet traffic trends.
We divided the internet traffic into two parts, namely inbound and outbound traffic. This allowed us to distinguish between the amount of data received and the amount sent. We exported the traffic data to a common file, which we used to facilitate the analysis of traffic trends over time. We presented the daily volume of data received and sent for each day on a timeline of the entire measurement period.
We analysed the trend of outgoing and incoming traffic over the whole measurement period and tried to determine whether the amount of incoming and outgoing traffic is increasing. To calculate the growth trend more reliably, we have kept only the middle 95% of all traffic data. We have also presented the trends in traffic fluctuations over the course of an average working week and an average working day.
