Accurate air temperature measurements are something we take for granted these days, yet many factors can actively contribute to the measurements error. In the diploma thesis, we studied the influence of thermal radiation on air temperature measurements in the environmental test chamber, which in theory can vary greatly depending on the absolute temperature of the atmosphere, the dimensions, and properties of the surface of the temperature sensor, and their spatial position in the chamber. We did this by using a system of identical temperature sensors, surrounded by cylinders of different diameters, and painted with a coating of high or low emissivity. Measurements were carried out with the sensors in different positions in the chamber and in different chambers, where we observed the differences in the measured temperatures on the different sensors in connection with their properties and the conditions of the test.
The thesis consists of three main parts. The first covers the introductory theory, description of previous research and expectations of measurements. The second part covers the description of the equipment used and the testing procedures. The third part consists of a presentation of the measurements results, comparisons, their interpretation, as well as comments and the final thoughts.
