Although I often use digital techniques to create, I find most of my inspiration in traditional
art. So I wanted to create a project in my thesis project that would connect the two ways.
Through research, I want to review the last decades of illustration (mostly book illustrations)
to the first digital influences on it.
I intend to explore the relationship between the processes of designing illustration in the
traditional way and modern digital, and to place this understanding in the broader field of art
and culture. As I am interested in the question of the impact of digital art on culture, I also
want to explore the role of illustration in this light. The aim of the research work will be an
illustrated collection of poems by Svetlana Makarovič, where I want to combine ways of
traditional techniques with digital possibilities of visual interpretation of poetry.
