I decided to do my bachelor thesis on the topic of dcharacter design, because I am interested in this field. I wanted to explore and understood the creative workflow of illustration. I finalized the project that will later be used in the book. Imaginary characters are designed popularly and scientifically so that they will be understood to the public and at the same time containing elements that will be recognizable by scientists. Illustrations of characters are illustrated in a playful way, but are still aimed at the general adult public. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to determine, how to design imaginative characters based on descriptions. To achive the desired results, I have used existing examples of character design within a popular science genre and made a comparison of illustrations and cartoons. I studied the theory of popular science communication: how much should illustrations be inviting, fun and how informative, or what are the proportions between these two contents: emotional (aesthetics) and rational perception (information). The final product of the practical part of the thesis is a series of illustrations on the topic of the four pillars of the immune system, which I present in the form of original illustrations and publication.
