With my thesis I explored the way fairy tales are told through illustration to preschool children and children in the first trimester of primary school. I was interested in the meaning of illustration and its effect on the child when telling a story. In the theoretical part, I presented the importance of a good illustration of a folktale and how it can achieve the greatest interest in the child. As a practical part, I made a series of illustrations for the folk tale The Shepherd and a tool for telling it to a large group of children. I explored the fairy tale, its characters, setting and message, as well as the process of making illustrations. In addition to the illustrations, I created a storytelling tool that allows the illustrated content to be presented in a clear and practical way.
