The thesis addresses the rework of a pallet infeed unit and the design of a supervisory system. The pallet infeed unit is used in a paper company. The produced paper is in form of large rolls. If the roll is intended for delivery to the end customer, a pallet needs to be placed under the roll. The rework will make control and supervision of the infeed unit easier. It will also ease the detection of errors and troubleshooting.
The first part of the thesis describes approaches to control systems design and the components used in automatic control systems. The next part describes the operation of the pallet infeed unit and the required operation after rework. The hardware and software used is also described. We have integrated the new control algorithm into the floor line and conveyor control system. The new control algorithm is divided into several functions, each of which contains a part of the program. We created a function for controlling the operation, a function for transcription of variables to output addresses, a function with the sequence for operation in automatic mode, and a function for calculating auxiliary variables. Next presented is the implementation of the user interface for the operator panel with touch screen and the implementation of the supervisory system.
The project was completed by testing the correct operation and implementation of the new control system. The project was completed without any major problems.
