The paper discusses authorial reading as a special type of reading aloud, i.e. when an author reads his/her work aloud in public. In this way, the author of the written text also becomes the author of the spoken interpretation of his/her own work. Dual authorship raises various questions relating to performance (use of prosodic resources), circumstances (live, recorded), purpose (e.g. literary promotion), the effect of the reading on the audience, etc.
