The Master's thesis focuses on the field of research of the experiences of providers and older adults in distance education at the Adult Education Centre Radovljica during the pandemic. We were determing the predominant experience gained by the providers in the implementation of distance education, what challenges they faced, what are the opportunities for the development of adult education at the Adult Education Centre Radovljica, how distance education was conducted from the perspective of older participants, how older adults experienced it and what challenges older adults faced in attending distance education.
The framework of our research consists of distance education for adults and older adults, so the theoretical part defines adult education, its characteristics, development, emergency remote teaching. We identified who older adults are, the factors and barriers that affect participation in education, the importance of education in the social context and the digital literacy of older adults. The empirical part, which followed the paradigm of qualitative methodology, presents an example and analysis of data obtained from interviews with providers of distance education at the Adult Education Centre Radovljica during the pandemic and older participants in distance education at the Adult Education Centre Radovljica during the pandemic. The research found that most interviewees experienced distance education positively. The most useful tool for direct synchronous communication was Zoom, which was combined with email. The providers of distance education faced the most technical challenges at work. Three of the five older participants who were interviewed, said they had no problems with the technique. Both the providers of distance education and the older participants successfully coped with the experience of distance education.
