In my dissertation, I presented and compared radar and GNSS distances from the ship to the radar reflector. In particular, I analyzed the accuracy of range determination of the radar system compared to the GNSS system. The main object of the practical implementation was the stationary radar reflector, which was the starting point for the determination of the distance for both systems used.
At the beginning I presented what a radar reflector is and what it is made of. I mentioned and listed the properties that affect the reflecting surface of the reflector and added the equation that can be used to calculate it. I have introduced two types of reflectors, active and passive radar reflectors, and also described how they differ. Below I have described the plan and preparation for practical implementation. What had to be done and what tools should be available to perform the measurements smoothly and safely. I have divided the measurements into the number of voyages we made and described and illustrated their courses. In the accessories I have described the characteristics of the radar and GNSS receiver that we used on the motor boat Slovenija. In the penultimate chapter I presented the results of the measurements and added the data of the evaluations of the individual voyages. I also divided the images of the radar screen into three groups, depending on the quality of detection of the radar reflector.
At the end of the dissertation, I commented on the success or failure of the practical implementation and video analysis. And some kind of guidance on what I could change for better performance and more accurate measurement results.
