Surrogacy may be defined as an agreement in which a woman – a surrogate mother – offers her body to bear a child for a couple (it can also be a same-sex couple) or for a single person. With the help of the institute in question, people who are facing infertility or are unable to conceive a child by nature have been given the opportunity to become parents. As a result, surrogacy is on the rise around the world. Due to ethical concerns as well as legal and medical issues, most countries are still not in favor of surrogacy. The emergence of surrogacy has posed new challenges to legal systems as some traditional biological relationships need to be redefined and social parents should also be given the status of family members.
