The master's thesis seeks to shed light on the question of how the Illyrian movement is portrayed in the novel Pave und Pero by Paula Preradović. The main figure of the novel Pero is based on the poet Petar Preradović, who was the grandfather of the author of the novel. Petar Preradović was one of the most important members of the Illyrian movement and his poetry became an important part of the literary canon in Croatia. The main research question of the master's thesis was whether the depiction of the Illyrian movement in the novel was realistic or whether there were any deviations in the sense, that there was an idealized depiction. In addition, the depiction of the movement for the unification of Italy is analyzed in order to compare the two movements. One of the goals of the master's thesis is also to figure out which aspects were crucial for the author of the novel in depicting the Illyrian movement.
