The purpose of the diploma thesis was to research and use Slovenian cultural heritage and folklore art in modern design and to stir interest in preservation of cultural heritage as it is very important for our history and development of the nation. Due to globalization and the rapidity of life, only few things are preserved and passed on from generation to generation. With this cultural heritages is slowly being forgotten or are disappearing. Based on this, the history and significance of Slovene hive extensions and the possibilities of their visual transfer into modern design were researched in the diploma work. The outcome was six collections inspired by stories depicted on Slovenian panjske končnice. The pattern collection contains motifs depicting contemporary social and societal problems, historical events, differences in the living conditions of the past and present, religious motifs and motifs from fairy tales. Patterns are presented on various garments and interior products through digital simulation.
