In reviewing the literature, we have found that several cow families in the Holstein breed have a great influence on the development of the breed, as the best Holstein bulls come from these cow families. These bulls have daughters and sons all over the world, thus marking the development of the Holstein breed not only in the country they come from, but worldwide. Monitoring and knowing the pedigrees of the breeding animals in the herd and the bulls used for mating are one of the methods used to express the best maternal and paternal traits that lead to top animals in the next generations. In the thesis, we wanted to show the importance of cow families and what a powerful legacy a good cow family can have with its positive influence on the breed. We presented the most important cow families of the Holstein breed, cows of the cow families Roxy, Apple, Rudy Missy, Oman Mirror, Chief Adeen, Barbie and Laurie Sheik.
