Creative industries in suburban areas are a fast-growing and evolving phenomenon, but are often neglected in domestic and foreign literature. With the survey methodology, we surveyed all creative companies in the municipality of Grosuplje and obtained 54 completed surveys. With the research, we found that 54 % of the surveyed creative companies have their registered seat of a company in the town of Grosuplje, and the remaining 41 % in the surrounding settlements. The research showed that the number of creative companies has grown over the years, that all the companies are micro-companies and that they are most commonly engaged in the computer sector and least common in the publishing sector. Another important finding is that most companies network with each other within their sector, but also many networks outside their sector, mostly on the local regional, and national levels. The most important location factors for the placement of creative companies in the municipality of Grosuplje are transport connections, information and telecommunication infrastructure, quality of the living environment, access to outdoor recreation, the possibility of networking within sectors, identity, etc. Most of the surveyed companies have products or services with economic value and a character of intellectual property, and 96 % of the surveyed creative industries believe that their products or services are creative.
