Introduction: Many women are looking for information about pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period to help them transition into parenthood. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has severely affected people and healthcare around the world, preparations for childbirth and parenthood have been carried out somewhat differently. The vast majority of pregnant women had obtained information online. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to explore the use of digital media as a source of information about pregnancy and childbirth in pregnant women and how they helped to obtain the necessary information during the pandemic. Methods: A descriptive method was used, where we reviewed Slovenian and foreign professional literature. The literature was searched in the Science Direct, DiKUL, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar databases. We used the following keywords: pregnancy, media, antenatal class, childbirth education. We then used a quantitative approach and designed an online questionnaire developed in the 1KA online tool as a measuring instrument. It was shared through social networks Facebook and Instagram, where the participation was voluntary and anonymous, which we also made clear at the beginning of the survey. The entry criteria were: pregnancy of a woman during the Covid-19 coronavirus disease pandemic and the usage of digital media at least once to search for information on pregnancy and birth. Results: The study included 355 women, among whom the most common age was 25 and 35 years old. Most of the respondents used digital media as their main source of information on a daily basis. They expressed 24-hour availability and better access to information as the most common causes. 53 % of the respondents did not attend for childbirth and parenthood preparations, while 26% visited them online, 17% live and 4% in combination – online and live. Respondents cited the possibility of attending lectures from home as the best feature of online preparation for childbirth and parenthood, and pointed out the lack of practical exercises as a disadvantage. Discussion and conclusion: The pandemic is a major reason for greater encroachment on digital media to seek information on childbirth and the postpartum period. Digital media is an important source of information for pregnant women, but their credibility may be questionable. For this reason, the role of midwives is to properly guide and counsel pregnant women and to recommend professionally supported sources of information. Most respondents pointed out that the web and other types of digital media would be used to the same extent, even in the absence of a pandemic. It would be useful to know how the pandemic affected the partners and what challenges they had to face as a result of the measures taken.
