The thesis deals with the building history and architectural characterization of the succursal church of st. francis Xavier in Vesela Gora near Šentrupert. The Church was completed in the early 18th century and was an important pilgrimage centre in the Slovene territory. Today it serves as a succursal church to the Šentrupert Parrish and it is not as active of a pilgrimage site as it once was. Nonetheless, it still holds its significance in the local cultural life. The purpose of this thesis is to fully discuss and present the cultural monument, its history and architectural design. The main emphasis of this research is the typological analysis of central sacral architectures in the Slovene cultural territory. Also the research into the architectural influences that are connected with the church at Vesela Gora. The research was based on existing literature in combination with fieldwork.
