The invention of photography allowed us, to instantly capture time and people in the current environment. Everything that exists today, may not be here tomorrow. Time blurs the traces, leaving memories on photographs or film. But what is the difference between the technique of writing a photograph then and now, and how to transform a photograph into a visible or even tangible material form? It’s so easy today to pull the phone out of your pocket when the need to take a photo is triggered in us. Oversaturated memory cards with photos of self-portraits, daily meals and pets are a good bait on the social media of our profile, but we rarely release one from its digital format on the surface. We have practically unlimited re-experiments on digital cameras and we are not tied to any costs and time, because, we can look at what kind of photo we took in an instant - but is all this worthwhile and comparable to its predecessor, modern man almost forgotten analog photography? Together with the master of photography from Ptuj - Stojan Kerbler, we rely on the latter, throughout the entire documentary titled: Stojan Kerbler and the Disappearance of the Motif. He takes us behind the scenes of his everyday life, from finding and photographing a motif, through darkroom and his life story, to the final photograph.
