In my bachelor's thesis I focus on the questions: what is an exhibition, why can exhibitions provoke a feeling of unease, and what specific relation does an exhibition have to photography. I describe the historical development of exhibitions, focusing on art exhibitions in particular. The chapter about market, institutions and curators presents these aspects which explain the most about the exhibition phenomenon. The chapter on the exhibition experience itself presents factors that affect visitor’s perception of time and space in an exhibition, as well as the relationship between the body of the spectator and the exhibited objects. I am also interested in this connection and relationship between photography and exhibition, for which I researched both exhibited photography, as well as the photography of exhibitions. Different ways of exhibiting photography are presented, as well as the influence that photographs of an exhibition have on the experience of the exhibition. Results of the visual work which was produced along with the research are presented at the end.
