The Bachelor thesis examines the issue of discarded textile, which is one of the fastest-growing waste materials in the world. A possible solution for implementing a more sustainable design is presented in the thesis. The thesis aims to develop an effective product solution to the discarded textile problematics. It researches different ways of reusing or remanufacturing textile materials, emphasising the importance of remanufacturing and reuse. In the practical part, the thesis focuses on designing a gift package for bottles made from discarded textile. Besides providing protection from possible hits and clinks, textile is flexible, therefore, it fits many different bottle sizes. Its various colours and prints fulfil the expectations for the gift package to create a formal atmosphere and the element of surprise in the gift opening process. The solution was achieved by the pleat technique, which structured the textile to provide additional protection of the content. Moreover, the solution offers the possibility of multiple and multifunctional use.
