2-aminopyridin-3-ol is an organic heterocyclic compound with molecular formula C5H6N2O. In molecule there are two N- and one O-donor atoms, therefore molecule, its anion or cation could coordinate to a central atom or ion in complexes. We examined the structures in the CSD database and found that there are no data of transition metal complexes with 2-aminopyridin3-ol. We found only the structure of a rhenium complex with the deprotonated form of 2-aminopyridin-3-ol, 2-amino-3-oxypyridine. In other compounds 2-aminopyridin-3-ol is protonated and 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridinium ion forms salts with complex anions of transition metals. For comparison, other structures of cobalt chloride with hydroxypyridines: 3-hydroxypyridine, 3-hxydroxypyridin-2-one and 2-hydroxypyridine are shown. The listed hydroxypyridines can bind to a central atom or ion in the complexes in a similar way as expected for 2-aminopyridin-3-ol. Similar to 2-aminopyridin-3-ol, these ligands form hydrogen bonds, which stabilise the structures of the compounds.
