Various disasters occur in the natural environment, and wildfires are one of them. In addition to fires in buildings, these occur most frequently in Slovenia. Given that forests cover almost 60 % of Slovenia, this is a worrying figure. Wildfires are affected by three main factors: topography, fuels and weather parameters. By analyzing the data and calculating the correlation between weather parameters and wildfires, we came to the conclusion that three parameters stand out: precipitation, air humidity and the number of hot days. If these change, there would also be a change in the number of fires. This means that these factors have a major impact on the forest fire risk in Slovenia. In order to prevent the formation and development of wildfires, it is necessary to take measures and help yourself by using programs that predict the forest fire risk on a daily basis. Given that human is still one of the main causes that wildfires happen, it would be a good thing to ensure that people are as aware as possible, especially in the area of nature management and action in case of fire.
