In my master's thesis, I researched the subject of domestic violence within a home environment, inside my hometown, Trbovlje. In the first part of my master's thesis, I present theoretical basis for understanding the problematic of domestic violence within a home environment. I am also focusing on support and help to both victims and those responsible for domestic violence, as well as trying to connect this topic of violence to the current COVID-19 epidemic. I researched the relationship and standpoint of citizens in connection to the problematics of violence. The main purpose of my master's thesis was to find out the extent and frequency of domestic violence, as well as recognize the most frequent circumstances that cause domestic violence in the opinion of Trbovlje's citizens. I also wanted to find out if these participants recognize consequences and stereotypes of domestic violence. On the other hand, I wanted to connect the subject of domestic violence with the current situation of the COVID-19 epidemic and research if people believe this epidemic had an impact on the domestic environment and potential escalation of domestic violence. I also included whether people recognize and trust organizations and departments, which offer help to victims of domestic violence. My master's thesis includes a survey based research in which the main participants were citizens of Trbovlje. The analysis of results shows that for the main part, surveyed citizens of Trbovlje recognize the problematic of domestic violence, understand its meaning and recognize stereotypes of domestic violence. After analysing results, I discovered people lack trust into support systems and we, as a society, still aren't adequately made aware of the problematic of domestic violence, therefore I believe there is room for improvement. In the last part of my master's thesis, I presented conclusions and suggestions, as well as concrete ideas of how my master's thesis could be upgraded.
