This thesis deals with the possibility of improving the process of placing products in the warehouse and commissioning them. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the emphasis is on providing lean warehousing or on solution examples providing savings in a warehouse. Therefore, the second chapter presents various methods of providing a lean warehouse, for example, the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), the use of various picking routes, the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS), and the use of various warehousing systems.
In the continuation of the second chapter, the achieving of a lean warehouse by using a suitable warehouse strategy is also described. Four different strategies for placing products in a warehouse are described.
The third chapter of the thesis (the practical part) contains the presentation of the database and the algorithms for placing products in the warehouse according to the product class. It also presents an imaginary one-block warehouse, the process and the key documentation for placing products in the warehouse and ordering cargo, and the database and algorithm structure. The emphasis is on the database structure designing and the presentation of the algorithms used.
