The main objective of my thesis was to increase the weight percentage of aluminium on the surface of the FeCrAl alloy and thus increase its corrosion resistance. Aluminization was carried out by a pack cementation process in a tube furnace at a temperature between 730 °C and 900 °C at different annealing times between two and four hours in a pack containing 6 wt.% Al, 2 wt.% NH4Cl in 92 wt.% Al2O3 and 2 wt. % Al, 6 wt. % NH4Cl in 92 wt. % Al2O3.
After the process, we analyzed the microstructure and measured the microhardness using Vickers method. The main objective of the research was to study the microstructure and depth of diffused aluminium.
