A halogen bond is an attractive interaction between an electrophilic halogen atom and between the nucleophilic part of a molecule. The strength of the bond increases down the group from chlorine to iodine. Due to its many advantages (orientation, hydrophobicity, flexibility of strength…) it is increasingly used in crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry. Cocrystals are single crystalline substances composed of two or more different components which are in a solid state at room temperature and normal air pressure. In the last years, pharmaceutical cocrystals have come to the fore, with innovative crystals structures contributing to drug development.
