The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 epidemic caught the whole world off guard. SARS-CoV-2 is a betacoronavirus that causes, either mild or severe respiratory ailment in humans. Crisis such as an epidemic can be fitted under the slow-diminishing ones. It is important that we, as a society, are capable of crisis management. For this reason, each country must have its own crisis management and leadership system. Public institutions significantly contribute to this. Community health care institutions in the Republic of Slovenia offer health security to people at the primary level, which is why we place them in the broader context of crisis management and leadership in the field of health care. Such an institution is Community Health Centre of Ljubljana. The first wave of the epidemic from February to May 2020 was extremely demanding for the said community health centre. Nevertheless, Community Health Centre of Ljubljana successfully carried out activities, the abandonment of which would have negative consequences for society.
