Methods: In this diploma work we used a descriptive method of work with a systematic review of scientific and professional literature in Slovene and English language. The literature was searched using keywords related to the topic of diploma. A time frame for searched literature was from 2011 to 2021. Results: 5 stuies werw included in the final analiysis. Four studies are patient aspects of experiencing and using self-care, and one study is how nurses understand the concept of self-care and how they use it practice. Discussion and conclusion: Patients report that healtcare professionals place too much emphasis of taking immunosuppressive therapy and too little on psychosocial problems. It means a lot to them if they are involved in the process to have an open relationship with healthcare professionals, which gives them a sense of ability and competence in solving problems. Most nurses are medically oriented and often overlook the psychosocial problems of patients. The role of the nurse in self-care is important. Nurse must teach patient how to manage his health condition and how to respond properly to certain symptoms and signs. Patients and healthcare professionals are afraid of rejecting a transplanted kidney, so everyone is worried that it will not happend or come as late as possible.
