The undergraduate thesis deals with elements of Buddhism in Kerouac's novels On the road and The Dharma Bums. With detailed analysis it proves that there are elements of this religion present in both novels. The thesis contains short explanation of main Buddhist ideas to better understand the whole research. Then it focuses on the novel On the road, in which it searches for individual Buddhism ideas based on certain passages. The research is continued on the novel The Dharma Bums, from which it exposes main Buddhist practices and teachings. The thesis concludes with short comparison of Buddhist elements present in both novels. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the involvement of Buddhist religion in On the road and The Dharma Bums.
