In the second half of the 20th century Slovene drama played a very important role in the development of the nation, but it seems that, at least in the past decade, it no longer does so. At the same time, it is being shaped by new ways of writing drama and new findings regarding what effect literature has on the recipients of its messages. And yet the latest Slovene drama does raise ethical concerns in connection with questions about the Slovene language, state and identity, although it does so in a different, original fashion.
