The text focuses on the formation of knowledge and identity in women through the experience of migration. The theoretical framework for the empirical research is rooted in biographical and transitional learning. Migrations signify important life transitions, brought about by complex and heterogeneous experiences, and create opportunities for learning that are realised by female individuals in different ways. The empirical research is based on the analysis of selected women's narratives. The findings confirm the four strategies of transitional learning and types of knowledge according to Pirjo Tynjälä (2013). With the help of a classification of these a model was created for the interpretation of biographical learning alongside migration.
