Digitization and media convergence have changed many approaches to the use of old and new media, while also affecting the participation of media users, which have been assigned a new role within media consumption, communication and production, as well as content distribution. New media and various participatory practices led to the emergence of new communities where collective intelligence and individual strength are built. A large increase in media content and consequently activities related to the research problem of participatory culture of media consumers can be seen on YouTube, which is defined as VOD and Video-sharing platform, as it has an exceptional strength in the media market since the beginning. With focus groups I gained insight into the above-mentioned practices that participants carry out in various media, which allowed me to answer a research question about the characteristics of participatory culture on YouTube.
