The main topic of the Master’s Thesis is the education of women between 1848 and 1918 on today's Slovenian territory within the Habsburg Monarchy. The work enlightens the topic of primary education and opportunities for secondary education of women (private and middle class girls' schools, industrial, craft, midwifery schools), and discusses the issue of girls entering high schools, passing the final exams (matura), and obtaining an appropriate and valid certificate. The work emphasizes women's teacher training colleges and lyceums in today’s territory of Slovenia and their role in the development of general and special higher women education. Great importance is also given to women’s struggle to enter universities and first Slovenian female students.
