The purpose of the thesis was to present different types of horses equipment for horse, to describe it and compare it. The horse has been a human partner for a very long time. In the past, people used horses first for meat and milk, but later they also began to use them for riding and in a cart or as a draft animal. The role of the horse has been very important in the past as it has helped people survive. Today, however, horses are more or less dedicated to leisure and sports. There is a huge variety of harness equipment on the market, and horse owners find it difficult to decide which harness equipment to choose and why. The problem is also lack of Slovenian literature that would present all sorts of harness equipment and presented the advantages and disadvantages for each type of equipment. In this dissertation we presented different methods of harnessing (how many horses are in a particular team, what we call it and how the horses are arranged) and different types of equipment for horse-drawn carriages. We presented the history of harness equipment, how it was created, explained components of each equipment, it's advantages and disadvntages, and how it is mounted on a horse. For towing heavy loads we use collar and french collar, for towing medium-heavy loads we use english harness and french collar, for towing lighter loads we use harness, and trotting sport trotter harness.
