In this diploma thesis, we addressed an issue of a simplified pneumatic control system on a machine for tube end chamfering. While running, the machine required the presence of an operator so that he could interfere in case of a stoppage, because the machine did not have any sensors to do so automatically. We have drawn a function plan, a state diagram, a pneumatic control scheme and have executed the practical part of the assignment. We have updated the pneumatic control system by replacing pneumatically controlled valves with solenoid controlled ones and adding pneumatic cylinder position sensors, as well as tube position sensors. We have also connected the newly installed valves to a PLC CyBro-2 controller and have written a program for controlling the valves. The machine no longer experiences unnecessary stoppages and the amount of scrap it produces is negligible, which means we have achieved our goals.
